Employment Opportunity: Social Worker
Full Time, Part Time, or PRN
Description: The Social Worker (SW) provides mental health counseling to Beacon House residents with an emphasis on cultural sensitivity, prevention, and intervention work. The incumbent needs to be energetic in working with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental and emotional health through outreach events and campus planned events.
SW will collaborate with staff from Beacon House, Department of Human Resources, Juvenile Probation Officers, and community service agencies in evaluating residents’ needs and concerns, and developing and implementing treatment plans.
SW will need exceptional time management skills and will be expected to participate in professional development activities and training.
SW will provide services to a highly diverse population of residents.
– Counsel, support, and consult in regards to psychological, social, emotional well-being.
– Enhance each resident’s personal growth, development, and adjustment.
– Help plan and conduct workshops on campus for:
– suicide prevention,
– substance abuse, and
– other identified group needs.
– Provide crisis intervention and assessments when necessary, including nights and weekends on-call.
Requirements: Licensed Social Worker or Master’s degree in Social Work
Availability for overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts is required.
Additional certifications in specialized areas of practice, experience in providing assessments, and/or experience with crisis intervention is preferred.
Please be aware that our hiring process requires an Alabama driver’s license, mandated background checks, drug screen, health physical, TB test, and CPR and CPI certification.
